The B and B is set in a sheltered, south facing position in one of the most beautiful valleys on Exmoor.  The views across Somerset are truly glorious.  With binoculars from our conservatory you can spot wild Red Deer and Exmoor ponies on the heather-clad slopes of Dunkery Hill to the west.

THE AREA  
 
Meadows Exmoor B and B in Somerset is just 5 miles from Porlock.  This village, made famous by its extremely steep hill on the road west, is well worth a visit.  Porlock has some interesting shops, pubs and tea rooms.  ½ mile to the west or Porlock is Porlock Weir - a quaint little harbour on the North Exmoor Coast.  The rare, north facing Oak clad cliffs can be seen clearly here from the pebble beach.  The beach is popular with anglers, with good catches of a wide variety of fish regularly landed.

3 miles in the opposite direction, guests will find the medieval village of Dunster with its castle (National Trust) and famous Yarn Market.  There are lots of interesting shops and tea parlours in Dunster's main street.

Dunster has a station on the West Somerset Railway - a lovely old single track line connecting Taunton with Minehead, which runs steam hauled services for much of the year. This 20 mile ride passes through some stunning Somerset scenery and is a great day out.

WALKING FROM MEADOWS B&B
Meadows B and B lies in the heart of the Brendon Hills in Somerset surrounded by fabulous walking and riding country. 
Because of its central position for exploring both the Dunster and Porlock areas, it opens up exciting options for glorious Exmoor walks in all directions.

Just a short walk along the lane you will find footpaths leading to Wootton Common, part of a ridge of hills running east to west from Dunster to Porlock. 
Forest tracks emerge at the top with stunning views of the Bristol Channel and the Exmoor National Park. You can take the path to Selworthy, or head towards Dunster with fantastic  views all the way.
You can either drop down to explore historic Dunster village, or carry on to Bats Castle, the site of an Iron Age settlement. From here there are fabulous views of Conegar Hill and Dunster Castle.

Also from the house you can walk to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point of Exmoor; or take footpaths overlooking the Vale of Porlock to Webber's Post for more panoramic Exmoor views.

Within three miles of Meadows B and B lies the picture perfect thatched village of Selworthy which has footpaths to Selworthy Beacon and North Hill often called the ‘English Alps’.
Within a similar distance is Bossington village and walks to Porlock Ridge and beyond; the haunt of Peregrine Falcons. 
To the east lies Croydon Hill and miles of paths through the Dunster Crown Estate and Dunster Deer Park.
These are just a few walks. There are countless more.
